Including beyond-linear halo bias in halo models

چکیده
ABSTRACT We derive a simple prescription for including beyond-linear halo bias within the standard, analytical halo-model power spectrum calculation. This results in corrective term that is added to usual two-halo term. measure this correction using data from N-body simulations and demonstrate it can boost by factor of ∼2 at scales $k\sim 0.7\, h\mathrm{Mpc}^{-1}$, with exact magnitude determined specific pair fields two-point function. How translates full depends on relative strength one-halo term, which mask importance greater or lesser degree, again depending fields. Generally, we find our more important signals arise lower mass haloes. When comparing calculation simulated data, underprediction transition region between two- terms, typically plagues calculations, almost completely eliminated when non-linear bias. show improved autospectra cross-spectra galaxies, haloes, matter. In case matter–matter matter–halo power, note large fraction improvement comes biasing low- high-mass envisage model being useful modelling cross-correlation signals. Halo Assembly Bias in Hierarchical Structure Formation
We investigate the origin of halo assembly bias, the dependence of halo clustering on assembly history. We relate halo assembly to peak properties measured in the Lagrangian space of the initial linear Gaussian random density field, and show how these same Lagrangian properties determine large-scale bias. We focus on the two regimes where assembly bias has been observed to be significant: at ma...
متن کاملOn Halo Formation Times and Assembly Bias
In this paper we use the “Millennium Simulation” to re-examine the mass assembly history of dark matter halos and the age dependence of halo clustering. We use eight different definitions of halo formation times to characterize the different aspects of the assembly history of a dark matter halo. We find that these formation times have different dependence on halo mass. While some formation time...
متن کاملScale-dependent bias and the halo model
We use a simplified version of the halo model with a power law power spectrum to study scale dependence in galaxy bias at the very large scales relevant to baryon oscillations. In addition to providing a useful pedagogical explanation of the scale dependence of galaxy bias, the model provides an analytic tool for studying how changes in the Halo Occupation Distribution (HOD) impact the scale de...
متن کاملEvolution of Halo-halo Clustering and Bias in a Λcdm Model
We study the evolution of the halo-halo correlation function and bias in a ΛCDM model using very high-resolution N-body simulations with dynamical range of ∼ 32, 000 (force resolution of ≈ 2hkpc and particle mass of ≈ 10hM⊙). The high force and mass resolution allows dark matter (DM) halos to survive in the tidal fields in high-density regions and thus prevents the ambiguities related with the ...
متن کاملThe Origin and Evolution of Halo Bias in Linear and Non-linear Regimes
We present results from a study of bias and its evolution for galaxy-size halos in a large, high-resolution simulation of a low-density, cold dark matter model with a cosmological constant. We consider the evolution of bias estimated using three different statistics: two-point correlation function bξ, power spectrum bP , and a direct correlation of smoothed halo and matter overdensity fields bδ...
